Pauline Saunier

Amity Toastmasters
Albany WA 6330

We all know the adage “Life begins at Forty”, I would like to change this to 60, the time when I discovered there is so much to learn in life and so much that we can give in return.

My life experiences have seen me:

  • Managing an accounts department for a local retail departmental store
  • Assistant Accountant and Credit Manager for a local Car dealership
  • Living in France and setting up a B & B in a small medieval village
  • Managing property for overseas owners in France
  • Liaising with businessmen from France & West Africa
  • Being a “new mum” at 41years of age.
  • Returning to Australia and learning new skills to be competitive in the computerised world of today.
  • Commencing online University Courses in:
    1. Constructing a Conceptual Framework for Social Action
    2. Sustainable Development and the Prosperity of Humankind
  • Volunteer Radio Announcer at our Local Community Radio
  • Joining Toastmasters in January 2006. Attaining the CTM and CL in the first 12 months and being Amity Toastmasters “Toastmaster of the Year for 2006”

Toastmasters gave me the confidence to consider looking for work at the age of 63. I had been out of the workforce for almost 10 years although I had been active in volunteer work over this period. In January of this year I began a permanent part time job bookkeeping for a small business in Albany.

It is a wonderful experience to have this new opportunity, enabling me to utilise, my vast experience in accounts and marketing as well as newly acquired skills of graphic design and advertising. I am also writing reviews for books and assisting with the planning of promotional events.

My wish is to motivate others, to be an example of what can be achieved, that age is no barrier, and that all things are possible. I want to promote positive living for all generations, the joy of setting goals and reaching for the stars.
